TWT KICK-OFF PARTY:
Big thanks to all who came out to the Transworld Tour Kick-Off Party/Party 4 the Planet at the Knitting Factory on Friday night. All said and done we had over 600 people in attendance!
I would be remiss if I failed to also thank Seth Brown from ToEntertainU.com for having us.
TOUR DEPARTURE UPDATE:
The tour check list has gotten smaller and smaller over the last few months, and I’m thrilled to be within a few weeks of departure.
Now for the bad news… due to a sequence of monumental mistakes on the part of the shipping company in Long Beach, the TWT bike is 3 weeks behind schedule, and heading to Brisbane instead of Sydney. It is currently being transferred from a vessel in China to another one heading for Australia. I have a confirmed arrival of May 16th–so the trip is now being pushed out slightly to accommodate for these changes.
Due to these changes, we have elected to do the trip in 2 segments: #1 this summer from Brisbane to New Delhi; and #2 next summer from Almaty, Kazakhstan to Los Angeles. While I am disappointed, there are very clear advantages to having an extra 3 months to do the trip.
We will have more and better content right here on the blog and in the documentary–and having an extra 8 months to prepare for Central Asia, Russia and Europe will give me plenty of time to search out the most fascinating nooks and crannies along the route. I may even be able to ride the Karakoram Highway into China if political and ethnic tensions cool down over the next year!
We are still looking to buff up our documentary budget to make this the best it can be, so please feel free to get involved through THIS LINK.
Thanks for following!
