It has finally started to settle in. PHX, LAX, Fiji, Sydney. I’m traveling again. People look at you kind of funny when you roll up to the terminal bound for the South Pacific with a motorcycle helmet and camera gear hanging in disorderly fashion from your bag. I smile back and nod as if to imply that I never leave home without a helmet of some sort.
Couldn’t help but pause for a thoughtful minute when my parents dropped me off at the airport. Leaving my girlfriend, family and friends behind-even for just 3 months-was harder than expected.
The upside is that I have stopped second guessing my preparation. After a year of planning, all the pieces of the puzzle are intact. I’m thrilled, a little apprehensive, and I suppose curious more than anything.
How is this little solo adventure going to pan out? I don’t doubt it will be a blast, but I haven’t the foggiest idea how all the pieces will come together. I guess that is why people travel… to get outside of our comfort zones and see the world through a different lens. It has been 3 years since I last left the United States. Time to dust off the cobwebs and jump right back in the mix.
Keep an eye out for posts from Sydney over the next few days, and feel free to check out our indiegogo campaign for some cool ways to get involved with the project. http://indiegogo.com search: ‘transworld tour’
